Check Python Version

Python is the most famous programming language, it is used in building dynamic applications, machine learning, Data science, and robotics. Python has a wide range of open-source libraries and packages which increase the performance and reliability of an application, It has the simplest syntax it is an easy-to-learn language even a beginner can start learning Python.

For learning python you have to install python first in your system before installing you can check the latest version of python on its official website but in case you forgot the version details, you can check it in your system.

There are multiple ways to find out the version of python in your system, in today’s tutorial we are going to discuss those ways and we will also discuss how can we check the python version in different environments like Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Check Python Version in Windows, macOS, and Linux

For checking the python version go to the windows command prompt and type the following command

python  --version
python –V

The output of the above command will be like this.

As you can see from the output you can use both commands for checking the version of the installed python application.

You can use the following command to check the detailed information of the python version.

python –VV

In the above command the –VV is not W it is “double V” by executing the above command you will see the output like this.

Note:  if python is not installed in your system so the above command will not execute and it will show you an error. Make sure the latest version of python is installed in your system.
